PRESS RELEASE

Chair of In Sam’s Name, Richard McHugh, Steps Down

In Sam’s Name, the Nottinghamshire-based suicide prevention charity, today announces the resignation of its Chair, Richard McHugh.
Richard co-founded the charity alongside Stewart Fisher, father of the late Sam Fisher – a much-loved teacher, friend, and son from Worksop. Together, they built In Sam’s Name in memory of Sam, with a mission to ensure that nobody is ever alone or feels alone, and with the ultimate goal of preventing suicide.
Since its inception, the charity has grown from strength to strength. From its first support group in Worksop, In Sam’s Name now proudly facilitates talking groups in Worksop, Retford, Ollerton, and Kirkby in Ashfield. The charity has also expanded to include the In Sam’s Name Angling Club in Mansfield, providing another vital avenue for connection and wellbeing. In addition, the organisation has been recognised with multiple award nominations and wins, celebrating the life-changing work that has taken place thanks to Richard’s leadership and the dedication of the entire team.
The Trustees and volunteers of In Sam’s Name would like to express their deepest gratitude to Richard for his commitment, guidance, and dedication since the charity began. Without his vision and determination, the charity would not be where it is today.
Following Richard’s resignation, the role of Chair will now be taken up by John Stephen. Stewart Fisher, Gillian Fisher, and Rachel Wood will continue as Trustees. The Board also welcomes Clayton Tindle as Secretary Trustee and Harry Sheldon as Treasurer Trustee.
Alongside the Trustees, In Sam’s Name is fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteers and group facilitators who ensure the charity continues to grow and deliver vital support to the local community.
In Sam’s Name are always looking for new volunteers to help at external events, with marketing, and in other areas of support. Anyone interested in volunteering can request an application pack by emailing info@insamsname.co.uk.
Richard leaves with the thanks and appreciation of everyone connected to In Sam’s Name, and his impact on the charity’s journey will never be forgotten.
