Worksop Town FC Teams Up with In Sam's Name to Tackle Mental Health

Worksop Town Football Club are proud to announce a collaboration with the local mental health charity In Sam's Name. In memory of Sam and in a bid to prevent further tragedies, the club is dedicating their last home game to breaking down barriers and promoting the support available.
Sam's story is a poignant reminder of the struggles many face in silence, and the day itself would have marked Sam’s 32nd birthday. In Sam’s Name, which is an official charity serving Bassetlaw and the wider Nottinghamshire area, aims to shine a spotlight on mental health issues, offering support and resources to anyone who needs it.
The event promises to be both impactful and enjoyable. Local singer/songwriter Jamie Fox, known for his soulful tunes and heartfelt lyrics, will be performing at halftime from the Clubhouse balcony. This will be enjoyed by supporters both home and away. After the match, he will continue to entertain and uplift spirits in the clubhouse.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with volunteers from In Sam's Nam and learn about the invaluable peer support groups available to both men and women in Bassetlaw and beyond. Through open dialogue and shared experiences, the aim is to break down barriers and encourage a sense of belonging and understanding.
Merchandise will also be available, allowing supporters to raise funds for In Sam's Name and raise awareness within the local community. Every purchase will help keep the groups stocked up with tea and coffee supplies.
The event at the game could also be classed as an exclusive preview to the SpongeFest Festival, now in its 4th year. Jamie Fox will also perform at the music festival which is being held at Worksop Rugby Club on May 25th, 2024. It's a celebration of Sam's love for music, a testament to his spirit and the lives he touched. Tickets for the festival will also be on sale at the event.
